Missing in Action but Back with a Plan

Hi! I hope your summer has been fantastic. As the first sings of fall have found there way to Iowa I found myself wondering where the summer went. It went to work. It was a tough and tiring summer, but it is over. Things have calmed down, I've learned to breathe again and I'm having fun. I can't believe the last time I blogged was June 6th - and I still miss vacation! In addition to not blogging I barely took any pictures and that is just not cool. Being busy meant I lost my focus - the only thing I did for fun was knit and while that is great there are other things I enjoy doing too!

So, now I'm back with a plan! I enjoy taking pictures and I enjoy blogging so the plan is to combine them both. That means that you'll get at least one post a week from me! I'm doing my very first Year In Picture(s). Many people have done a year of self portraits but I loathe being in front of the camera and much prefer being behind it, like a security blanket. The idea being Year In Pictures is to take a picture every single day and then share it (well, that is at least what it means to me!). Some days I'll take more than one picture but I'll share only one. I plan to make a blog post Saturday evenings or Sunday mornings to share my pictures from Sunday - Saturday of that week. Hopefully I'll make it through the year and it will get me in the habit of blogging & taking pictures on a regular basis again.

I'll be giving each of the photographs titles and numbering them. I won't be "describing" the photos in my blog but you can click on the photo to go to Flickr where I will be adding descriptions. At the end of each post, just for my own tracking I'll also be including the total number of pictures I took during the week.

09/06/2009 - I made these double chocolate cupcakes to take on a visit with my friends - who doesn't need double chocolate cupcakes to celebrate a birthday?

2:365 - Monday, September 7, 2009: Thirsty Puppies


09/07/2009 - Despite me still not feeling well we ventured to the park with the pups. At 73 degrees I thought it would be a lovely day for a walk around the park however it turned out to be a very hot and humid trip. The boys needed a lot of water - the three of them finished a liter in 45 minutes.

3:365 - Tuesday, September 8, 2009: I Should Be Gone


09/08/2009 - Lately I'm racing the clock in the morning...I just can't get on track to leave on time. Despite running late I had to stop to take a picture of the fact that I was running late.

4:365 - Wednesday, September 9, 2009: I Can Hear Again


09/09/2009 - I'd been sick for 6 days at this point and in the morning I realized that I could hear again. My hearing wasn't 100% yet but so much better than it had been.

5:365 - Thursday, September 10, 2009: Always Close By


09/10/2009 - Still sick with Kleenex never far out of reach.

6:365 - Friday, September 11, 2009: A Tough Day


09/11/2009 - September is always a tough day for me. As the years have gone on it has gotten easier, but it still hurts and Brandon is always on the forefront of my mind on this day. He would have been 32 this past April and I turned 32 this past Monday. I'm so blessed to have every day that I do and I still mourn for every second that was taken from Brandon when that plane went into that North Tower. I know I'll never forget.

7:365 - Saturday, Sunday 12, 2009: A Market Breakfast


09/12/2009 - I love the Des Moines Farmer's Market so much. This morning I tried a fruit tart (it was DIVINE) with my coffee. It was a perfect way to start a beautiful Iowa day.
